Children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities find it harder to report bullying. In addition, they are at greater risk of being bullied. This book looks at bullying of children and young people with special education needs or disability in mainstream and special schools. It considers the findings of a number of research studies and a major conference, as well as already published work on the Anti-Bullying Alliance website. Drawing on the perspectives of research, young people, practitioners and families, it integrates reviews of evidence with case studies of practice. The perspectives set out in this book are a reminder of the scale of the challenge. However, the book also demonstrates that there is a great deal that schools can do right now to reduce the level of bullying that these children and young people experience. An agenda for future research and practice is laid out.
