Explores the experiences of refugees and asylum seekers (with particular reference to African families) in Britain and Finland. It examines what happens to the families once they arrive in these countries, how they are helped, and compares the responses of the two countries towards the plight of refugee and asylum seekers. Implications for the role of social work are identified. While the focus is upon African families, much of the discussion is in fact applicable to non-African refugees and asylum seekers.
