Presents findings from a survey to explore the circumstances of elderly people who fund their own admissions into residential or nursing homes. The survey collected information about 921 new admissions to residential and nursing care homes in Great Britain between January 1999 and March 2000, spread across 270 nursing, residential and dual registered homes.
