Practice guidance to support the care home sector to improve the quality of the food they serve to residents and to help them meet the range of needs of the older people in their care. The guidance covers a range of topics to support care homes including, food standards, guidelines and menu planning, the importance of hydration, eating and drinking well with dementia, assessing and monitoring residents dietary needs. It also includes advice on putting the guidance into practice. It has been developed in collaboration with care home providers, health care professionals, stakeholders and Care Inspectorate Wales.
