Outlines the findings of research with 31 older people living in a variety of settings, and members of their social and support networks, to discover what they want from services now and in the future.

Widening participation in continuing education to include under-represented groups has recently become a central part of government policy. Looks at a project to explore and describe examples of continuing education for particular grups of adults with learning difficulties who tend to miss out, including people who were older, had profound and multiple learning difficulties or were from black or ethnic minority groups. The research found only isolated examples of continuing education provision for these groups, with classes often fragile and vulnerable to cuts.

Despite the growth in independent living, most people with learning difficulties still live in the family home. As their life expectancy increases, a growing proportion will continue to live with very elderly family members, usually parents, and will survive them. Summarises the findings of a review of research, policy and practice on service provision for adults with learning difficulties living at home with older family carers and spoke with carers, users and staff.
