A study looking into service use by people with mental health problems in contact with the police resulted in the organisation Revolving Doors setting up a link workers scheme. The Revolving Doors Link Workers scheme aims to support and provide practical help at the time of arrest to people suspected of having mental health problems. This article looks at an evaluation of this service.

Report of experimental Link Worker scheme attached to three police stations, aimed at engaging with people with mental health problems who are not receiving the support they need in the community. Identifies a group of "revolving doors" clients, who have problems successfully negotiating the transition from prison, hospital or homelessness and discusses the characteristics of this group. Examines and costs the service use by this group and looks at some of the effects of introducing a Link Worker service, and how this could develop in the future.
