The effect of child and family development on mental health as well as broader factors covering mental health and well-being are addressed in this text book. Among the issues covered by a wide range of contributors are; definitions and consequences of mental health, illness and stigma; child development; the legislative framework; assessment skills; therapeutic work, such as individual counselling, cognitive behaviour therapy, family work and medication; clinical governance and supervision; and research. Each chapter includes case scenarios, clinical applications and text boxes highlighting the key context issues. The book is expected to be relevant to nurses at all levels but is specifically aimed at postgraduate nurses and nurses in specialist child and adolescent mental health services.
