Home treatment provides brief, intensive care at home as an alternative to hospital admission. This article describes the work of the older people's home treatment team based at Penn Hospital at Wolverhampton, winners of the NIMHE Positive Practice Award for innovative commissioning. Their model reduces the risk of dependency and also helps older people re-engage with their families and communities.

The author reports on the work of the Exstream Theatre Company, which toured schools with an educational drama programme about a young man's descent into psychotic breakdown. The programme was shaped by an advisory group that included members of a local Hearing Voices network, carers, drama experts and early intervention mental health professionals. The performances were followed by small discussion groups, where the audience talked about the play, the issues it raised, and about psychosis.

The principles of intentional peer support, a formal model of peer support developed in the US, are briefly summarised. The peer support project operated by Sutton Mental Health Foundation is then described. As well as providing training for peer support they provide intentional peer support on acute psychiatric wards for South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust.
