This publication combines information from the school census, school level annual school census, general hospital school census and alternative provision census on pupils with special educational needs (SEN). The publication includes breakdowns by type of SEN provision (either SEN support or EHC plan), type of SEN, age, national curriculum year group, gender, ethnicity, English as a first language and free school meal eligibility. While schools were only open for vulnerable children and the children of key workers on census day, schools were asked to record pupils on roll as if in normal circumstances. The percentage of pupils with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan has increased to 3.7%, continuing a trend of increases since 2017. The percentage of pupils with SEN but no EHC plan (SEN support) has increased slightly, from 12.1% to 12.2%, continuing an increasing trend. The most common type of need for those with an EHC plan is Autistic Spectrum Disorders and for those with SEN support, Speech, Language and Communication needs. (Edited publisher abstract)

This DVD tells the employment stories of 9 people with learning disabilities and their employers. It has been produced to encourage employers to think about giving people with learning disabilities a fair chance to get paid employment. The Keynsham Network, a forum for people with learning disabilities, were involved in the filming and editing of the DVD.
Giving us a voice: meeting the need of people with learning disabilities from BME communities

The website for the National Charter for Inclusion project. The project aims to improve access to services for people with a learning disability from black and minority ethnic communities and their families. The site provides details of the national Charter for Inclusion and a list of useful resources. Short films where people with learning disabilities from ethnic minorities tell their own stories about finding somewhere to live, finding employment, staying healthy and having a voice are also included on the site.
Our lives online
Ourlivesonline.org is a project for people with learning disabilities in Wiltshire to share the news of their lives that starting April 2010. The project encourages people to take part in workshops to learn how to make video news stories and slide shows, how to make a news story, short lively and interesting, how to film and edit a news story and how to put it online. The project is funded by the Wiltshire Learning Disability Partnership Board. The website contains a variety of videos on different projects in Wiltshire.

Valuing People Now is a three year cross government strategy for people with learning disabilities. It says that all people with a learning disability are people first with the right to lead their lives like any other. This web resource is for people with learning disabilities, family carers and anyone who works with, or comes into contact with people with learning disabilities. It contains text, video and access to a newsletter. Featured sections include: people with complex needs, black and minority ethnic communities, you as a family carer, and life as a young person. The resource also covers health, housing, employment, transition, personalisation, inclusion, and advocacy.

Consisting of a DVD and booklet, this project pack explains the various psychological services which are available to people with learning disabilities. It is written as a working handbook for both family and professional carers. The resource outlines what clinical psychologists do, how they work and who they may of benefit to. It provides a useful distinction between the various psychologists a person may come into contact with when accessing services. The bulk of the booklet is dedicated to a series of two-page descriptions of common clinical approaches which may be employed when working with a person with learning disabilities: psychodynamic psychotherapy, positive behavioural support, cognitive analytic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and family therapy. The DVD attempts to orientate users to what is likely to happen when they see a psychologist. It mirrors the booklet in structure and outlines the main psychological approaches offered to people with learning disabilities by Birmingham PCT. In addition there is a chapter titled “Service User Forum” in which members of a service user advocacy groups ask questions relating to the practicalities of seeing a psychologist.

"Valuing People" is a big plan for and is all about rights, more money and better help for people who really need it like children. The DVD also talks about new ways for people to get their voice heard. Meetings called Regional Forums will enable people to say what they think and ideas from the forums in every part of England go to the National Forum who make decisions.

A DVD made by people with learning disabilities was shown for the first time at the House of Commons on 29 September 2005. People with learning disabilities, from Ealing Consortium, commissioned and wrote the script for the DVD, and had the final say in the editing. They wanted other people with learning disabilities to be aware of their rights in areas such as housing, health, and travel. The DVD will also be used for staff training and informing the general public.
