Grandparents are now playing an increasing role in their grandchildrens lives. A survey of 1,596 children (aged 11-16) was conducted in schools across England and Wales to investigate young people's views on their relationship with their grandparents. In-depth interviews with 40 young people were also carried out. The study looked at grandparent's involvement, the impact of this involvement on grandchildren's emotional and behavioural well-being, and to what extent grandparents help or hinder grandchildren's adjustment at times of family breakdown.
