Describes the self-perception of Arab adolescents living in Israel based on a survey. The findings show differences in various aspects of their self-perception according to gender, family level of religiosity and form of residence. This article examines research on the effects on unemployment on mental health in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The results reveal that unemployed people have worse mental health than others. Concludes that unemployment benefits and labour-market policies affect the pattern of exit rates out of unemployment.
