Reports that Government proposals to set up a national centre offering advice and information on early intervention for disabled children and their families could see the end of 'postcode lottery' services. Defines early intervention as any activity designed to promote development and learning of young disabled children, giving as examples play, family support, physiotherapy, and speech and language therapy. The Government has asked Mencap to find out if parents and professionals think a centre would be a good idea. Most think a central focus is needed because many parents don't know what help is available.
