The book presents a series of case studies exploring the traditional methods of conflict resolution amongst different communities, now resident in London. The stories were collected as part of a three year project to learn about the kinds of conflicts faced by different communities, and the ways each community responds to them. The aim is to aid understanding of the conflict resolution processes which exist within communities and to take the learning from the research to a wider network of conflict resolution and community mediation practitioners across the UK.

Refugees and asylum seekers are dedicated and important providers of services to their own communities, and have provided a welcome input into many local community projects across the UK. This book highlights a wide and varied range of initiatives, reflecting the many ways in which those who have recently arrived in the UK are working in partnership with local community development organisations.
