Foster carer reviews require an assessment of whether a foster carer and their household remains suitable to care for foster children. This guide sets out knowledge to inform good practice and also looks at the details of the review process itself. Chapter 2 provides an overview of the current legal and policy frameworks for foster care reviews in the four countries of the UK. Chapter 3 then looks at the findings arising from inquiry reports and serious case reviews involving foster carers. Chapter 4 looks at social work knowledge in the assessment and review process. The guide then looks at the review process itself, with chapters covering: the administrative process, and how to set up and organise reviews; collecting information for reviews; the review meeting; and Foster carer reviews and fostering panels.
