Nurses in Scotland who work with looked-after children now have a framework to clarify their role. The Scottish capability framework has been developed by NHS Education for Scotland and the Scottish Government with the LAC Scottish Nurse Forum, social workers, carers and looked after children. This article looks at the initiative, highlights the importance of LAC nurses having a clear role, and explains why the rest of the UK should adopt a similar approach.
