This report provides initial findings from a review of arrangements in the NHS for safeguarding children. An online questionnaire was issued to all NHS Trusts in England. The following themes are discussed in relation to the findings: safeguarding leadership; safeguarding policies; monitoring of safeguarding arrangements by trusts' boards; collaboration; compliance with national standards. The report concludes with a number of recommendations, the most urgent being that NHS Trusts' boards should urgently review their arrangements for safeguarding children - in particular the levels of up-to-date safeguarding training among their staff.
