These tools support organisations to deliver good assessment, develop good assessors, ensure good support for assessment and think through the implications of delegating assessments to other parties. Assessment is a central part of adult social care, both as a gateway to support and as an intervention in its own right. Good practice in assessment is essential to: improve the experience and outcomes of adults and carers; meet the expectations of law and policy, in particular the Care Act 2014; and use resources in the most effective way. The tools reflect existing good practice that is consolidated by the Care Act 2014. They can be used by organisations to review and strengthen their assessment delivery. (Edited publisher abstract)
