Mainstream perinatal mental health services provided by Family Action in Hackney are using volunteers to reach out to ethnic minority groups. Volunteers are asked to devote up to three hours to each weekly visit. They also receive monthly supervision sessions, giving them the opportunity to discuss families' progress and emerging problems. The project uses an attachment model based on the NEWPIN approach.
