This publication provides ‘signposts’ to relevant texts to support the learning and development of health and social care in dementia care. It draws on knowledge from a range of academic disciplines to reflect critically on the application of a strengths based person-centred approach to supporting the daily life of people with dementia. Organised around 14 themes, it parallels the Dementia Core Skills Education and Training Framework, published by Skills for Health; Skills for Care and Health Education England and the Higher Education Dementia Network Curriculum for Dementia Education Framework. The publication is organised across 14 themes, which include: dementia awareness, person-centred dementia care, communication and interaction, health and wellbeing, living well and promoting independence, working with families and carers, equality and diversity, ethics and safeguarding; and end-of life. For each theme the publication highlights key learning objectives; subject areas to cover; and references to further reading. (Edited publisher abstract)
