Abstract: |
Many fathers want to find a better balance between work and family. However a recent report from the Equality and Human Rights Commission revealed a common fear that a request for flexible working would seriously damage career prospects and be seen to indicate a lack of commitment. This booklet suggests that businesses that embrace family friendly working have an excellent opportunity to attract and retain these talented people and to reduce the costs of recruitment and redundancy, whilst improving the wellbeing of their employees. The social and economic benefits to employers and employees of implementing flexible working and other family-friendly policies for fathers are highlighted and illustrated in a range of case studies of father- and family-friendly practices from different sized companies and sectors. Tips are provided on implementing family-friendly working practices. |
