Building a safe and confident future: one year on: improving the quality and consistency of the social work degree in England

Publisher:

London: Great Britain. Department for Education. Social Work Reform Board, 2010. 21p.

Abstract:

The progress report, Building a Safe and Confident Future: One Year On, provides an overview of Social Work Reform Board activity over the past year in developing and implementing the recommendations of the Social Work Task Force. This paper is one of a series of 5 papers, published as companions to the progress report, which provide detailed proposals relating to 5 different key areas of reform. This paper sets out proposed requirements for social work education which should enable student social workers to receive high quality preparation in their degrees that will give them the right skills and knowledge to join the profession. The proposals fall in 3 key areas: improving the calibre of entrants to social work degrees; practice learning; and curriculum development, delivery and regulation. Feedback is sought on the proposals in this document.
