Abstract: |
The SafeBase Parenting Programme, developed by the Adoption agency After Adoption, is designed to help families with adopted children and has improved placement stability and reduced adoption breakdown rate. Based on attachment theory, the programme has three main strands: family observation; a four day parenting training programme; and regular SafeBase parenting support groups. Families taking part in the programme report feeling more positive about the future and more able to enjoy family time. The Programme was originally piloted between 2005 and 2009 and now operating as part of wider adoption support services in 12 local authorities areas in England. |
