Abstract: |
The focus of this paper is equality and human rights protections in Northern Ireland. The paper sets out the background to and current position regarding equality and human rights legislation in Northern Ireland. It briefly examines European Union and international standards with regard to equality and human rights, assesses the extent to which they are met by legislation in Northern Ireland, and looks at what adjustments would have to be made to meet the standards and the sanctions that could be applicable if they are not met. It includes a comparative table of European and international equality and human rights standards. |
