Abstract: |
This summary of good practice aims to support the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in delivering improved work on domestic violence (DV) cases. It is based on the findings from the 2–year CPS DV Project, which included the evaluation of the existing 5 UK specialist domestic violence courts and the 2 pilots, in Caerphilly, Gwent and Croydon, London. The pilots illustrated ways to help in the delivery of CPS Public Service Agreement targets in relation to both bringing more perpetrators to justice and in improving public confidence. The good practice outlined in this document aim to help Areas in the meeting of their Hate Crime targets and in the development of their Business Plans 2006-2008. The good practice covers the following areas: partnership working; community engagement; Specialist Domestic Violence Courts (SDVCs); role of CPS Domestic Violence Coordinators; prosecutions; training; links with other CPS priority projects; support for victims and children; integration of equality and diversity issues; and performance management. |
