Abstract: |
This article promotes a model of good practice with black families. The model is largely derived from research into Cafcass private law practice carried out by the author and can be applied more widely in social work practice. The suggested model has three elements: respectful engagement with all parties, including children; engaging in a dialogue between the culture of the individual service users and that of the profession; and appropriately challenging racism and other oppressions. Each of element of the model is described with explanation of how this is supported by the research data. |
