Abstract: |
Drawing on a literature search on strategy, this paper explores the relevance of strategy in health and social care. It looks at strategy in the NHS context, approaches to strategy (including competitive strategy and emergent strategy), and implications for strategic leadership. It discusses strategy in the context of recent reforms in health and social care and makes connections between general ideas about strategy and their relevance in the health and social care context. The author notes that for strategic leadership to be effective, it needs to be embedded in the culture of health and social care organisations. |
