Abstract: |
This evaluation study examined whether the early intervention Parentline Plus Time to Talk (TTT) programme, and intervention designed to prevent teenage pregnancy, resulted in parents being able to give their children messages about delaying the onset of sexual activity and practising safe sex when they do begin. It also looked at improvements in general parenting, including improved communication and more effective negotiation. In each area interviews were held with six categories of interviewee: Parentline Plus managers, Parent Support Coordinators and their line managers, Teenage Pregnancy Coordinators, other relevant professional, and parents who had participated in the programme. The findings highlight the difficulties of engaging parents in the programme and the barriers to engagement and outcomes reported. A series of recommendations are listed at the end of the report. |
