Abstract:

Reports on a study examining the mental and physical health, perceived social support, and experiences with HIV/AIDS of 416 lesbian, gay and bisexual adults aged over 60. The study also investigates whether or not older lesbians, gay men and bisexuals were more satisfied with the support they received from people who were aware of their sexual orientation and from people who were similar to them in terms of sexual orientation, gender and age. Using a self-administered questionnaire participants evaluated their mental emotional health, physical health, loneliness, alcohol use, drug abuse, self-esteem and perceived support. Discusses the findings.
