Three innovative approaches employers can take to help them recruit and retain social workers are described. Emotional loyalty focuses on improving managers interpersonal skills to enable them to understand the motivation and goals of their staff. The Skills for Care's care ambassador programme trains social care workers to give presentations about social care careers to school leavers and the unemployed. Value-based interviewing, which aims to look at a candidates values and behaviour, can also be used to ensure a candidate is right for the organisation.
