Between November 2008 and January 2009, Nuffield Trust held a series of seminars to explore the issues involved in achieving closer integration of health and social care. This paper summarises the discussions that took place at the seminars. It includes case studies of the NHS Kaiser Beacon site at Torbay, Knowsley Primary Care Trust and practice-based commissioning in northeast Lincolnshire. It concludes with key messages from the case studies and implications for policy.
