This guide has been developed following workshops with leaders across health and social care which investigated the challenges leaders face when developing joint strategies across organisations. The guide defines strategy as 'a set of principles and choices designed to help systems achieve their long-term goals'. It shares examples of work going on in NHS and beyond, provides key questions health and care systems should ask when developing joint strategies and signposts to resources and case studies. The guide is organised according to the different stages of the strategy journey: Getting ready – developing local leadership and collaboration and establishing a common purpose; Strategy development - understand future challenges, defining system goals and developing solutions; and Planning and delivery. It is published alongside a compendium of case studies. (Edited publisher abstract)
