This article reflects on the transition journey of one child who for various reasons was unable to live with his biological parents. The focus is on the child’s move from living in a residential children’s unit to living with a permanent foster carer. The author reflects on some of the significant factors which emerged as the team around Kieran worked hard to ‘get it right’. Reflections for practice highlight the importance of each role in the team around the child and the opportunities offered by working together. (Publisher abstract)
