This non-statutory guidance is aimed at practitioners working with children and young people who want to know about the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) for children and young people and when to use it. It looks at who can carry out a CAF and when; what makes a good assessment; CAF and integrated working; describes the steps to carry out a common assessment; and discusses information sharing, consent and confidentiality. The guidance replaces the 'Common Assessment Framework for children and young people: a practitioners' guide' originally published in 2006. Annexes include a guide to definitions and a copy of the CAF form.
