Reports on the findings of qualitative research to investigate the experiences of people who are caring for family members with dementia. The report draws on four case studies and diaries completed by carers over the period of one week to record their experiences of providing care. The findings are discussed around the following themes: awareness of dementia, the impact of dementia; changing relationships, social isolation, psychological and physical health and finances. The report highlights how dementia changes family relationships, leaves people socially isolated, and affects both the physical health, mental health and finances of family carers. A series of short films accompany the report. (Edited publisher abstract)
