Introduced through the Children and Social Work Act 2017, all local authorities are now required to publish a ‘Care Leaver Offer’ which outlines the services available for young people leaving care within the local authority area. This guide provides advice for local authorities on developing their local offer for care leavers, provides suggestions on issues to include, and includes best practice examples that councils may wish to consider as they develop their Care Leaver Offer. It covers issues such as managing finances, housing and accommodation, looking after mental and physical health, work and employment, education, Staying Put arrangements; and the needs of refugee and migrant young people transitioning to adulthood.
